It’s Elementary.
So we’re going to showcase the elements and their capabilities in this post. We’re not gonna show every single ability (THERE ARE 81 OF THEM!), but we’ll give you an idea. =)
Fire is one of the first elements you’ll have the fancy of getting to know. Torchlight will be your first ability which light things up a bit in dark areas, and the game will show you how to Spit Fire, your first attack ability. Later on, you’ll be able to gain abilities that can melt ice, burn enemies, and other avenues for being a self-proclaimed pyromaniac.

Water will be an integral element to your advancement in the game. Useful for gaining abilities like H>2>O, which lets you breathe underwater, making Ice Cubes to drop in water to walk across, and Freezing enemies and giving them a fatality. But sorry, no blood-bending going on here.

Earth will grant you abilities that you will have to use to your advantage in even less-than-obvious situations. Like using the attack Quaker to shake hard-to-reach items off of high places, Rock Shield to roll across rails you couldn’t normally get across, and Sandy Feet to get you across large areas of quicksand. But don’t worry, you’ll also have the earthenware tools to be able to deal the damage in the fray.

Wind will let you be as wispy and as much of an airhead as you want to! Gust Jump will allow you to jump across certain areas previously inaccessible, and even attacks that sweep the ground. Push allows you to basically tell an enemy to “GET UP OFF ME!”, and there’s even an elemental ability that will allow you to be a Vacuum. Nuff’ said.

Light things up! Electricity is another valuable energy source for your exploration needs. Restore lost power to mechanical objects, create Lightning Clouds that can give someone a rainy day, and tell bots to shut up with a Static Discharge. Now you’re playing with POWER— LIGHTNING POWURR!

Shadow allows you to be stealthy when you need to be. Cloak yourself so enemies can’t see you, use Shadow Mites to home in on enemies and attack them (of course, only while you’re in some shade), and even Reveal hidden objects and areas that have been stained with shadow energy. Ninja mode = ON.

Space allows you to be more universal in your exploration. Vanish for a quick moment to dodge enemy attacks, but time it right! Planar Warp will reveal an alternate dimension where you can find more goodies and hidden Cryamore in certain areas, and even a Vector Gun that will make Cave Johnson jealous. Yup, we’re talking portals here.

Time for the 8th element. Time traveling has never been easier… well not that easy. But at least time heals wounds (HP) with Reverse Infliction, Chrono Shift which will make a dead tree gain life again and reset small puzzles if you get stuck, and Hammer Time which is a hammer attack that will stop an enemy indefinitely, but you can’t kill them afterwards, as they’re stuck in a time paradox. Careful on who you use that on. Time doesn’t heal everything.

And the most powerful element of all, well, we can’t reveal that yet. It’s kind of a big secret.
